Privacy Policy
Privacy
This policy covers the Heptavo app for iOS and this website. The person responsible for both (controller under the GDPR) is Lars Haneveld, Elbinger Straße 15, 60487 Frankfurt am Main, Germany, hello@heptavo.com.
The short version
The app does not collect your data. It has no accounts, no servers and no analytics, and it never sends anything you do to anyone, including us. The two exceptions are Apple's own handling of a purchase and an email you choose to send us. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
What stays on your device
Every question is built into the app when you download it, which is why it works with no signal. What the app learns while you use it is written to your device's own storage and stays there:
- which IB courses you take and at which level;
- which questions you have answered, what you answered, and how you marked yourself;
- your study sets, plans and streaks;
- your settings.
None of it is transmitted. Deleting the app deletes all of it. You can also erase your progress in the app under Settings → Reset all progress.
Purchases
Heptavo Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card, your address or your Apple Account. The app only asks Apple whether this device is entitled to Pro and stores the answer locally so Pro works offline. Apple's handling of the transaction is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
If you email us
If you write to us, we have whatever you put in that email and use it only to answer you (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). We do not add you to a mailing list and do not pass it on. We delete support emails once the matter is closed, unless we must keep them by law.
This website
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (Cloudflare Pages), 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open a page, the host processes the technical data your browser sends (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) to deliver the page and keep it secure. This is our legitimate interest in running a working, safe website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The website itself sets no cookies, serves its fonts and scripts from this domain rather than from a third party, and uses no analytics or tracking. Links to the App Store take you to Apple's website, where Apple's privacy policy applies.
Children
Heptavo is a study aid for IB Diploma students, who are typically 16 to 19. Because the app collects nothing from anybody, it collects nothing from a child either.
Tracking and advertising
There is none. The app contains no advertising, no third-party SDKs and no tracking technology, does not use the advertising identifier, and never asks for permission to track you.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict and port your personal data, and to object to processing. For the app we hold no data about you; your progress is on your device, where you can erase it. For emails and website logs, write to the address above. You can also complain to a data-protection authority, for example the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (HBDI) in Wiesbaden.
Changes
If the app ever starts doing something this page does not describe, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
